Research on Horror Genre

Horror is a fictional genre in many cases, although in some cases films are based upon truth. The main aim of a horror film is to scare or unsettle the audience.
There are many sub-genres of horror, some of these consist of: teen, slasher, psycological, zombie, surreal, suspense, extreme, English or American gothic and supernatural. Most of these will build around enigmas and so forth. Also, horrors sometimes encorporate some elements of other genres for example sci-fi or black comedy. Horror has existed since the late 1800's and stands out to a wide audience due to its wide range of sub-genres.
